Have you ever had one of those moments which quite unexpectedly have impacted your life? In 1972 I was a student at Durham. I was finding life quite challenging as I was a mature student and as providence would have it, the minister whose church I was attending at the time was Bob Gordon and he lived just across the road from me. One day he invited me round for a chat in his office. I didn’t know it at the time that he would become one of my spiritual mentors and a great source of inspiration to me for the next 25 years until his death in 1997.
Hung on a nail in his office was this verse by John Oxenham (1852 – 1941). This poem inspired Bob’s life and it has really influenced mine. Please read it and I pray that you too will respond to the challenge of choosing the High Way over the Low Way.
