The Best Hidden Church in Norwich

Jonathan Piesse

John Robinson - Pastor to the Pilgrim Fathers

Jonathan was brought up in Norwich.  After attending the Norwich School he studied at Durham University where he obtained a B.A. (Hons.) Upper Second in Modern History, and it was at this time he became interested in whether one could discern a connection between Christian faith, philosophy and history.

Employment after this degree included working in Personnel Management in the electronics industry, visiting Christian Unions in polytechnics and colleges on behalf of the Universities and Colleges Christian Fellowship, ministry to those on the margins of society and working as a Pastoral Assistant for Greyfriars Church in Reading.

He was then able to return to study, obtaining another B.A.(Hons.) Upper Second, this time  in Theological and Pastoral Studies from Oak Hill College in London, followed by a post-graduate diploma in Theology from the same institution.   The earlier interest in theology, philosophy  and history was pursued further with a dissertation on theological responses to the Fall of Rome in AD 410, the Lisbon Earthquake of 1755 and the Holocaust.

In recent years he has been involved with St. Andrew's Church in Norwich, helping to lead services and teach from the Bible, as well as making use of the heritage of the church, particularly in ways which show the truth that “the memory of the righteous is a blessing”  (Proverbs 10: 7[a]).
