Are you Safe from shark attAck?

You might not have been swimming in shark infested waters lately but we are surrounded by all kinds of dangers not only in the material world, terrorist attacks, accidents, arguments, misunderstandings – do I need to go on? What attacks have you been under lately? Those of us who are Christians also understand that we are also surrounded by an unseen spiritual world. There are God’s angels who are commissioned by God to watch over us but we also know that Satan has many demons who are constantly trying to bring us down by every underhand method imaginable.

The Bible tells us in 1 Peter 5: 8 “Watch out for your great enemy, the devil. He prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour..”

I was reading recently about a small fish called a Moses Sole. It’s a small flounder that can be found in the Red Sea. Large sharks abound in those waters so I am certainly never going to swim there, are you? These sharks would typically eat these kinds of fish. But back in the 1970s a group of researchers noticed something amazing about the little Moses Sole. All the other fish in the same category; the same size and same weight would be eaten by the sharks but for some reason these sharks would not eat the Moses Sole. They discovered that the little Moses Sole fish has a very unique defence system. Whenever it senses any kind of danger it naturally secretes poisonous toxins out of its glands. These toxins literally cause the sharks’ jaws to freeze. After reading this I did a search on YouTube and found the flowing clip which showed this little Moses Sole swimming inside the shark’s mouth. The shark was obviously coming for the kill and all the shark had to do was bite down and there was its dinner, the only problem was the shark couldn’t do it. God put something in this little fish to protect him and as long as the shark was there his jaw was frozen. He would have to swim away for a few seconds before that jaw would be released and go back to normal. That’s what the scripture means when it says, “the favour of God will keep my enemies from defeating me.” God has put something on you that will cause you to be victorious. The way you release these poisonous toxins, so to speak, to keep the sharks’ jaws frozen is by thanking God for his favour. Every time you say,

“Lord thank you that your gracious hand is upon me!” toxins are released that paralyze the enemy, but if you go around talking about how big the problem is, how you’re never going to make it; that does just the opposite and acts like bait which attracts the enemy and makes it more difficult. When you’re in tough times remember that little fish. If you develop a negative attitude, become worried and start complaining you’re going to attractive more difficulty, but if you dare to declare God’s favour it will release a power that will keep those enemies from defeating you.

Romans 8:31 reads, “What shall we say about such wonderful things as these? If God is for us, who can ever be against us?” Remember, if you declare God’s favour you will become the victor and not the victim. No matter how big the obstacle, the favour of God will not allow you to be defeated.
