If you have ever known any teachers in your life you will probably know that many of them have what is known as the “magpie tendency” – they tend to collect things which might just come in useful at some stage.
Being an ex-teacher one of the things I have collected are quotes and interesting verses. Perhaps ministers also fill files of ideas for future sermons! Some time ago I found the following verse which has often helped me during difficult times. Unfortunately I have never been able to discover the author.
The best is never over,
The best has never gone,
There’s always something lovely
to keep you struggling on;
there’s always compensation
for every cross you bear,
a secret consolation
hidden well somewhere.
Ends are new beginnings
As one day you will see;
The best is never over,
The best is yet to be.
John.
